In her electrifying new music video for “Fire in Delhi,” rising Swiss-Indian artist BombayMami does something you’ve probably never seen before: she carves down the powdery slopes of the Swiss Alps on a snowboard—dressed head to toe in a traditional lehenga. As she flies over the snow, her shimmering embroidered skirt fans out behind her like a kaleidoscope, and her flowing dupatta trails in the wind like a flag of cultural pride. All the while, she delivers rapid-fire rhymes with the effortless confidence of someone who belongs exactly where she is, no matter how unlikely the setting.
“I wanted to merge my two worlds visually,” BombayMami explains of the video, which has already gone viral on TikTok with more than 750,000 views and counting. “There’s something powerful about wearing something so traditional and beautiful in a place where no one expects to see it. I love mixing the richness of Indian culture with bold, contemporary looks—it feels like claiming space in both identities at once.”
And if you ask her, more is always more. “I’m so proud to be Indian,” she says. “And I absolutely love our fashion—the more bling, the better!”
The result is a vivid, defiant celebration of heritage and modernity—proof that you can honor where you come from while fearlessly inventing where you’re going.
